Green Chalk Contemporary is pleased to present SUSAN HYDE GREENE | WATERSTORIES, an exhibition of twenty art works. The exhibition dates are June 13- August 8, 2015. This work is reflective of Greene's lifelong affinity with the emotional and transformative quality of water and the realization that these magical bodies are ultimately endangered. The show includes photographs, mixed media on paper and silk.
Inspired by a family culture of mending and sewing common to people all over the world, Greene sews through each piece stitch by tiny stitch, as though she can save these life giving bodies of water by carefully piecing and stitching them together.
Greene’s images relay stories from impressions of experiences, thoughts and memories. Combining imaginary imagery with images that she photographs or rephotographs, she binds each piece together with stitching, graphite, paint and sometimes language.
